Horizontal Usage of QJ Series Deep Well Pumps(I)
2026-05-05 14:00The QJ series deep well pump is originally designed for vertical submersible use, but it can achieve horizontal operation through standardized modification and installation. It is suitable for water lifting needs in non-deep well scenarios such as ground water tanks, puddles, and canals, and is widely used in fields such as farmland irrigation, construction site drainage, and industrial circulating water supply. It balances practicality and economy, and is an important supplementary form of vertical usage.
I. Applicable Scenarios for Horizontal Usage
The horizontal usage of QJ series deep well pumps is only applicable to shallow water level and large flow ground water storage scenarios. The specific applicable scope is as follows:
Drainage and water lifting of static water storage facilities such as ground water tanks, puddles, and canals, such as the discharge of accumulated water at construction sites and water diversion for farmland irrigation;
Water supply for industrial circulating water systems, such as cooling water circulation, process water circulation and other scenarios that require horizontal arrangement of installation space;
Small water conservancy projects and rural drinking water projects for humans and animals, which require horizontal installation and moderate water lifting height (adapting to the rated head of the pump model);
It is not applicable to deep well, high-lift water lifting, and turbid water with sand content > 0.01% to avoid equipment wear or failure.
II. Horizontal Installation Specifications (Core Points)
The horizontal installation of QJ series deep well pumps needs to focus on solving the problems of fixation, water intake, heat dissipation and backflow prevention. The following specifications must be strictly followed to avoid affecting equipment life and operational stability:
1. Foundation and Fixation
A horizontal concrete foundation or a steel base shall be poured to ensure that the foundation surface is flat and the strength meets the requirements, and oil stains, gravel and other debris on the foundation surface shall be removed; Place the pump body horizontally on the foundation, align and level it with shims. The horizontality of the horizontal pump body shall not be greater than 0.1/1000 to avoid impeller imbalance and increased vibration caused by inclination; Fasten the pump body with anchor bolts, the screws shall be vertical, and the exposed length shall be 1/2 of the screw diameter to prevent displacement during operation.
2. Installation of Inlet and Outlet Pipes
The inlet and outlet pipes shall be connected horizontally, and the connection method can be flange or thread connection to ensure tight sealing of the interface without water or air leakage; A filter screen shall be installed at the water inlet to intercept weeds, gravel and other impurities to prevent blockage of the pump chamber and wear of the impeller; A check valve (except for low-lift pumps) shall be installed at the water outlet to prevent backflow of water in the pipeline when the pump is stopped, which may damage the internal components of the pump body. The drain hole on the check valve shall be kept unobstructed to avoid pipeline freezing and cracking in winter; The pipeline layout shall avoid sharp bends to reduce water flow resistance, and maintenance space shall be reserved at the same time.
3. Motor and Heat Dissipation Treatment
The motor of QJ series deep well pump is a closed water-filled wet structure. During horizontal installation, it is necessary to ensure that the motor is completely submerged in water, or forced heat dissipation is achieved by adding a guide cover (radiator) to avoid poor heat dissipation and coil burnout caused by the motor being exposed to the air; If used in shallow water level scenarios, it is necessary to ensure that the motor and the core components of the pump body are completely immersed in water, and the water inlet shall be below the dynamic water level by 1 meter to prevent component burnout due to idling; The motor wiring shall be sealed to avoid water ingress and short circuit, the leads and cable joints shall be operated in accordance with specifications, and the protection level shall meet the requirements of the service environment.
4. Installation of Auxiliary Components
Install pressure gauges and vacuum gauges to monitor the inlet and outlet pressure in real time, which is convenient for adjusting working conditions; According to the service scenario, install shock absorption devices (rubber shock absorbers or spring shock absorbers) to reduce vibration during equipment operation and protect the foundation and pipelines; If the medium contains a small amount of impurities, a pre-filter can be installed at the water inlet to further improve the cleanliness of the medium and extend the service life of the equipment.
